Silk Paintings.
Since living in Cyprus for a year, and being surrounded by beautiful religious icons, I have rekindled my interest in painting, but being forever the textile artist, decided to transfer this back into silks.
I find working with silks a very exciting medium as you can get large blocks of colour down quickly and boldly, then manipulate the colour to create exciting and unpredictable patterns.
I produced a series of silk scarves with the Madonna and Child, the background in metallic gold bordered with royal blue. The scarf is made from Habotai 8 white silk and is approximately 150cm X 26cm with fully hand sewn egdes.

Why not use the silk paintings to make teddy bears! This is at the experimental stage at the moment so I will keep you informed on its progress.
