Wordsworth

an original design and painting by Carol Birkeland-Green BA (hons)
Text by William Wordsworth taken from 'The Daffodils'

Wordsworth was inspired from my favourite poem by William Wordsworth called 'The Daffodils' written in 1804.

Wordsworth is truely a one of a kind bear. He is made from sparse long gold mohair, fully cotterpin jointed, with black glass eyes, felt nose and is filled with polyester stuffing. His paw pads are made from ultra suede. He has a small crystal which has been placed in the painted foot panel on the right, which replaces the dot in the 'i' of daffodils, which is set in a sterling silver setting and catches the light beautifully.

Hand painted onto heavy top quality artists cotton canvas the painting is tough and durable, however machine washing or use in 'non collectors' bears is not recommended.
The canvas is fully primed using several layers and then painted with quality Daler acrylics. I have used an acrylic gold paint to highlight various parts of the design which gives a rich colour to the highlights. The painting also has several layers of varnish to seal and protect the painting.

The canvas has no noticable odour and is quite flexible.
Repeat copies of this design can be supplied on request if required.

Wordsworth is hand sewn and from a pet and smoke free home.

Please note this is a collectors bear and is therefor not suitable for children under 14 years old .

Daffodils
a poem by William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
